26 Nigerians were denied entry into Sudan and deported back to Nigeria over
suspicion that they were possibly infected with the Ebola virus.
Hauwa’u Ibrahim Bakori, a second year student of Pharmacy at the Al
Ahfad University, Omdurman who was also part of those repatriated stated that
she and 25 others were denied entry after arriving Khartoum Airport yesterday.
They were detained, and then deported back to Nigeria today.
Ms Bakori revealed she had earlier travelled to Nigeria for holidays, before returning yesterday.
The Nigerians travelled to Khartoum via an Ethiopian Airline flight ET 910 from Abuja via Addis Ababa. But on arrival in Khartoum, authorities seized their passports, and arranged boarding passes for them to return to Nigeria. They were not tested for Ebola, Ms. Bakori said.
