Read and see photos of moment a teenager was almost killed by the police in Scotland

Disaster, sad moment and the life of a teenager were spared when police at Shetland, Scotland who brought their professionalism and courage to bare did not shot at a teenager who deliberately aimed at rifle at them.
 
It was an extreme terrifying moment when the teenager, Samuel Barlow aimed his weapon at armed police officers.  He was moments from being shot at as he roamed around Shetland Mainland brandishing his rifle at frightened residents.
 
The court was told it was only the professionalism and courage of police officers - who initially had not idea of the type of gun Barlow was wielding.
 
 
 
 

 
Prosecutor Duncan Mackenzie told the court, ''I am not sure if the accuse appreciates how close he came to being shot at by police.''
 
The incident which lasted for hours had a major impact on the community.  It started with Barlow who was dressed in a camouflage trousers and beige top first seen walking with a rifle near Surd shortly after midday.
 
Mackenzie said there had been a number of occasion when officers had to decide whether to fire or not.
 
At the court hearing, Barlow is said to have been an inmate of Polmot Young Offenders Institute near Falkirk.
 
His sentencing will be on January 7.  But he is to undergo psychological and psychiatric evaluation before then.
