Richard Adesanmi was today sentenced to death by Justice Adeyinka Adetibigbe of the Osun State High Court, for detonating an improvised explosive device at the Osun State Government Secretariat in 2007 which led to the death of one person.
The convict was found guilty of all six counts including, unlawful purpose, attempt to injure with explosives, preparation to commit with explosives, act intended to cause grievous harm and lastly murder.
On 14 June, 2007, the convict and other three accomplices drove an explosive laden car into the car park of the Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development at the Osun State Government secretariat and detonated the explosives which caused the death of one person.
One of his accomplices, Taye was dismembered, while the convict lost one of his eyes in the explosion.
Recovered from him and tendered as exhibits were materials which could be use to make explosives.
Adesanmi had mentioned the names of some defunct Action Congress chieftain to be the mastermind of the blast. But they have since been discharged and acquitted by the court.
