70-year-old flamboyant nightclub owner stabbed to death by his 44-year-old son

David West (70), flamboyant nightclub owner was found stabbed to death allegedly by his son at their Mayfair home.  His son, also called David West has been charged with the murder and is due to appear in court by Monday.
 
Police and paramedics were called  to his three-bed room home in upmarket Ormond Yard at about 6pm yesterday.  His son was arrested on suspicion of the murder.

The 70-year-old, renowned for his brightly coloured suits was originally from Romford, Essex.  he started out as a market trader in the East End of London before he built a family tobacco business in Belgium.
 
Mr. West went on to form a wholesale business in the 1980s selling cheap alcohol and cigarettes.  His business is said to be one of the largest British owned cash and carry group in Europe and now boast of its own wine label.
 
He is said to also own the Mayfair nightclub, Hey Jo and the Abracadabra restaurant located on Jermyn Street.  He also own  a talent management company and a gentleman's club - Mandy's, which is the oldest in London.
 
A post mortem revealed that Mr. West died of a single stab wound.
