Six lions have been killed and four Maasai herders injured in the latest clash between man and beast in Tanzania.

The incident which occurred on 1st January 2015 in the northern Babati District has saddened the Tanzanian government which stated that it will try and identify and prosecute those involved in this hideous crime.

Sources said the endangered species likely came from Tarangire National Park.

Lions attacking livestock have become more frequent in Kenya and Tanzania where people and wide life live side-by-side.

The Maasai are semi-nomadic tribe found in Southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania.  Their lives centred around their cattle which are their primary source of food and an important measure of wealth and success.
