President Jonathan accompanied by Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Pastor Oyedepo to Israel on pilgrimage

President Jonathan is presently in Jerusalem on a two-day pilgrimage.
 
According to his itinerary,  he will observe the Sabbath Day on Saturday (today) at the Wailing Wall, where he will pray privately before going to Mount Tabor and Mount Carmel.  He will also visit some other Christian holy sites.  He will also attend an interdenominational service with the theme: “A day with Jesus for Nigeria in Israel”. and use the opportunity to pray for progress and peace for Nigeria.
 
This will be President Jonathan's second visit to Israel on pilgrimage since being elected as President of Nigeria.
 
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel Davi Obasa received the president on arrival at the David Ben Gurion International Airport, Tel Aviv.  Others  at the airport were Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra, Mr. John-Kennedy Opara, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission and Brig.- Gen. Jones Arogbofa, the Chief of Staff. 
 

Iran hangs woman for killing a rapist

Iran hanged a woman on Saturday who was convicted of murdering a man she said was trying to rape her. 
Amnesty International and other human rights groups had called on Iran’s judiciary to halt the execution. But IRNA said Reyhaneh Jabbari was hanged at dawn for premeditated murder. It quoted the court ruling as rejecting the claim of attempted rape and saying all evidence proved that Jabbari had plotted to kill Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former intelligence agent.
 
According to the court ruling Jabbari, 27, stabbed Sarbandi in the back in 2007 after purchasing a knife two days earlier.  “The knife had been inflicted on the back of the deceased, indicating the murder was not self-defence,”

Chief Ben Obi yesterday said the late Ikemba, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu knew that the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi would dump APGA as soon as he is no more.
 
He said the late Ikemba in his presence asked Peter Obi if he would leave APGA and that Peter Obi swore with a bible that he would never do such a thing.
 
He said: “I saw his defection coming because I worked with him as SSA on inter party affairs and throughout the period he was in court fighting to get his mandate back.  “We grew up together and attended the same school and I knew that Obi is very crafty, which sometimes fail him.
 
 

Sudanese Ambassador to Nigerian dies in Abuja

The Ambassador of Sudan to Nigeria, Dr Tagelsir Ali, died in Abuja yesterday.
 
According to the Media Advisor to the embassy, Mr Mohammed Abdulrahman, Ambassador Tagelsir Ali, 66, died at about 1am yesterday at the National Hospital, Abuja.
 
Ali, who was posted to Nigeria in February, 2012, the advisor said, was down with malaria.
He said: “He had malaria, there were some complications and he passed away around 1 am early this morning. 
 
 

It is a taboo for me to sleep with a wife who has committed adultery

Mrs. Pauline Ukah, 32 years, has asked the customary court at Alagbado Lagos to dissolve her nine years marriage to her husband citing irresponsibility as the main reason.
 
She said her husband from the inception of the marriage was in the habit of beating her and has also taken away the only son of the marriage under the pretence of taking him to visit his home town, doesn't contribute to the upkeep of the entire family and is extremely diabolical.

Mr. Ibu wins Best Movie Actor of the year Award

Mr. John Okafor popularly called Mr. Ibu turned 54 years on Sunday and marked his birthday at the popular Rockview Hotels Owerri surrounded by many Nollyworld actors and actresses and family members.

Governor Rochas Okorocha was represented by his Commissioner Hon. Uche Nwosu.

Present at the party were stars including Chinyere Winfred, Offialagu Mbaka, Dauda, Jericho, Emeka Rollas, Ajebo, Kakaki,Chinyere Udoma, Dunhil, Adin Williams and one time John player world dancing champion, Issac Chinagorum. At the event, Mr. Ibu was presented  with the Best Movie Actor of the Year Award by the Peace Ambassador of Nigeria.

Ebola.com sold for $200,000

 
 
The owners of Ebola.com have sold the site for a whopping $200,000 in cash and in stock.   The buyer is a Russian registered firm Weed Growth Fund, previously known as Ovation Research.
 
The October 20 filing said the price was $50,000 cash and 19,192 shares of Cannabis Sativa worth close to $170,000, which promotes medical uses for marijuana.  The reasons for the sale were not clear but Cannabis Sativa chief and former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson has publicly said he thinks marijuana may be used to treat the deadly disease. 
 
The seller is a Nevada based company called Blue String Ventures.  They still have in their possession brand names like Africanmango.com, Fukushima.com and RaspberryKetones.com. 
 
The Ebola.com website contains articles offering facts and frequently asked questions about the disease, which has infected almost 10,000 people worldwide, killing nearly 4,600
 
 

Nigerian scientists developed Ebola diagnostic solution

 
A team led by an alumnus of Florida Atlantic University, United State, Olumide Adenmosun has validated and adapted a methodology that will enhance the Ebola virus gene application in 30 minutes.
 
This, according to him, is being done together with some other Nigerian scientists and health groups largely involved in the containment of the country’s Ebola outbreak.
 
The team is collaborating with Dr. Yemi Adesokan, a Harvard University-trained scientist and founder of a Swiss medical diagnostic firm, Bioinnovation Solutions; and chemicals manufacturing firm, May & Baker, to develop and commercialise rapid genetic diagnostic test for Ebola screening and bio-surveillance.

Ara in an interview with Saturday Beats has come out to say she is still very much interested in giving marriage another chance despite her recent divorce from her Iceland based husband,  And that she would not mind dating a younger man.
 
''When I meet the right person and fall in love, I will consider marriage. I really want to fall in love again. I don’t believe in marriage just for its sake. If a younger guy comes up to me, I don’t mind dating the person. I don’t mind marrying somebody who I am older than. I have spoken to a couple of people and they don’t see anything wrong with it. If the person has a mature mind and is committed, then it is not a big deal.”
 
 

South Africa returns Nigerian seized $15m

Lulu Mnguni, the South African ambassador to Nigeria in a press conference has confirmed the return of both the $9.3m and $5.7m seized from some Nigerians for the alleged purchase of arms back to Nigeria.
 
The above money which South African authorities claimed then was suspected to be for illegal transactions were seized when some Nigerians enters South Africa carrying the funds as cash.

Breaking news: Shooting at a high school in Washington DC

Security are presently responding to a reported school shooting in Marysville, Washington, just north of Seattle.  it is reported that the shooting stated from close to the school cafeteria.
 
A student who spoke with CNN on the phone said most students thought it was a fire drill until teachers told them to run into the classrooms because there was a shooting.
 
It is believed  a boy came into the school with fire arms and opened fire close to the cafeteria.

American nurse with Ebola cured, to meet with President Barack Obama

The nurse who caught Ebola while caring for the patient diagnosed in Dallas was released from the hospital today free from the virus, and is to meet later in the day with President Barack Obama at the while house.

Nurse Nina Pham said she felt "fortunate and blessed to be standing here today," as she left the National Institutes of Health's hospital outside Washington.  She thanked her health care team in Dallas and at the NIH and singled out fellow Ebola survivor Dr. Kent Brantly, who recovered after becoming infected in Liberia, for donating plasma containing Ebola-fighting antibodies as part of her care.

Police in Delta State arrest robbery suspects with plenty of ammunitions

DSP Celestine Kalu, the spokesperson for the Police Command Delta State said they have arrested  two robbery suspects who allegedly robbed a filling station with cache of arms and ammunition inside an Audi Salon car.

She said, “On Oct. 23, 2014, at about 7:30 p.m., operatives of Dragon Patrol Team 06 covering Orenigbe/Umutu, while on patrol, intercepted one suspected Audi salon car with number plate USL 05 XB.  “The car was driven by one, Ibiang Ofem, 33 and a passenger, Sunday England, 20, who were promptly arrested following the discovery of arms and ammunition in the car.”


Two brothers arrested in Pakistan after making ''human curry'' out of a corpse

Lawmakers in Pakistan have filed a bill banning the exhuming of corpses for consumption or magical purposes after two brother Mohammed Arif Ali 35, and Mohammed Farman Ali 30 were found to have dug up more than 100 corpses from the local graveyard by making human curry stew out of them.

New York's first Ebola patient will be treated at the Bellevue Hospital Manhattan

New York's first Ebola patient, Craig Spencer, 33 will be treated in a 278 year-old Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.
 
Craig Spencer tested positive for the virus 10 days after returning from treating infected Ebola patients in West Africa; where he was working with Doctors without Borders.  He was said to have developed a fever and gastrointestinal symptoms Thursday morning and was taken to the Bellevue hospital.
 
For more than two months the hospital has been preparing for Ebola cases by ensuring their health workers practise safety protocols, donning and removing protective gear using a budding system to avoid contamination.

Mali Ebola update: WHO sends Medics to Mali as they confirmed first Ebola case

The WHO is sending medical experts to Mali to help the West Africa country prevent the spread of Ebola after its first confirmed case.
 
A 2-year old girl was diagnosed with the disease yesterday having been brought into the country from neighbouring Guinea. The girl whose father died of Ebola was taken to the hospital in Kayes after it was noticed she was exhibiting Ebola like symptoms.  A test later confirmed she has Ebola.  The girl and other members of her family who have might have been exposed to the virus are all in the hospital.
 
 

My marriage is important to me - AY

Comedian Ayo Makun (AY) while speaking to a Punch correspondent said he would do anything possible to make his marriage work.  He said he would not allow his present heavy work schedule to come between him and his family.

When asked if he would go into active politics, he said he would rather stay in the entertainment industry than dabble into active politics unlike some of his colleagues.  That he would rather stick to the entertainment industry he knows so well.

Pastor in jail for snatching cars at gun point

A Lagos Magistrate court sitting in Ikeja have asked that a pastor of a church be reminded in the prisons until December 3, 2014.

The pastor, Adebambo Adetunji, 37, is alleged to be a member of a gang of robbers who specialised in robbing motorist, snatching cars and robbing innocent victims of their valuables.

The suspect and others now at large were said to have converted a Toyota Camry and Mercedes Benz ML320 with number plates MUS 413 BH and LND 623 BC respectively.

On Tuesday, the suspect was brought before the Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Oshodi on three counts bordering on armed robbery.  The charges read in part;
