EFCC arraigns an accountant of the Nigerian Prisons for stealing N200million
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will tomorrow Friday
November 14, 2014 arraign Mrs. Imaobong. Akon Esu- Nte, the Head of Capital
Accounts Unit of the Nigerian Prison Service before a Federal Capital Territory
High Court (21), Apo, on charges bordering on stealing and money laundering.
Esu-Nte, was first arrested by the anti-graft agency in May, 2014 following suspicious lodgements of about N200million into her accounts.
The suspect, who is a grade level 14 officer was seconded to the Nigerian Prison Service from the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Tambuwal Picks APC Presidential Nomination Forms
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal has picked the notice of interest and nomination forms to run for the office of president of Nigeria on the All Progressive Congress platform.
Tambuwal was earlier tipped to run as governor in Sokoto State.

PDP governorship aspirant in Pleteau State dies
The People Democratic Party, Plateau State has lost one of their governorship aspirants - Senator C|osmas Geokur Niagwan. He died today in his sleep in Lagos. He was aged 75years. He represented Plateau South Senatorial zone in the 5th Assemble.
He was said to have travelled to Lagos on business purposes.
He had submitted his intention to vie for the governor seat on the PDP platform but was yet to pick up the nomination form before his untimely death.
Mr. Niagwan was a Marine Captain and was former Chairman of the Nigerian Maritime Academy, Oron, in Akwa Ibom State.

Aliyah Weekes, 19, was jailed four and half years while her brother Lacquan Weekes, 18, got six years for the terrible act.
The victim (whose name was not given) was accused by Aliyah of having talked to the police about an incident that involved both the victim, Aliyah and another 16-year-old for an assault in Willesden, North London last year.

Doctor in Indian mass sterilization arrested after the death of 14 women
The doctor who operated on over 80 women at an India mass sterilization camps over the weekend, and at which 14 women died has been arrested by the police.
The doctor, RK Gupta, and his assistant reportedly carried out tubectomies on 83 women in just five hours at the camp in Ballarpur district, Chhattisgarh state, on Saturday.
According to the BBC, government rules state one surgeon may only perform a maximum of 35 operations per day. The latest victim passed away on Wednesday night, while 90 others remain in critical condition after they were operated on at two camps, including the one at Ballarpur. The government has since banned the use of six medicines used in the operations pending the results of an investigation.

Fire struck in a Lagos apartment killing couple's three children
This is a terrible times for Mr. and Mrs. Ilori. Tragedy struck when a fire engulfed their apartment killing their three children Daniel (10 years), Temiloluwa (7years) and Darasinmi (eight months old).
It was gathered that the fire started after their mother who came back from a church programme at about 10pm on that fateful day, lit a candle to illuminate the room, locked the door and went outside to pick the clothes she had washed and put out to dry earlier in the day. But within few minutes, it was noticed that the apartment had been engulfed by fire.
