Aftermath of the withdrawal of the security details attached to the Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in a statement written and signed by his media aide, Malam Imam Imam, has come out to tell the Inspector General of Police that he breached the law by ordering that his security details be withdrawn from his residence.
He said he received with shock and amazement the statement which was issued yesterday stating the reasons why his security details were withdrawn.
The Nigerian Police Force Headquarters had yesterday issued a statement justifying the withdrawal of police security personnel attached to the Speaker by the Inspector of Police. They gave the reason of his defection from the PDP to the APC and that by that action, the Speaker breached Section 68(1)g of the Nigerian Constitution.
Hon. Tambuwal's media aide wrote and cited several law suits (Justice Faji of the Ilorin Division of the Federal High Court in suit no.FHC/ABJ/CS/605/2013)(Sokoto Division of the Federal High Court by Justice Aikawa in suit no. FHC/ABJ/CS/ 605/2013) were both court held that there is division in the PDP. And as such, the Speaker has the legal ground to defect or move to another party.
He also stated that as the no. 4 citizen in the hierarchy of protocol in Nigeria, the Speaker House of Representatives is entitled to protection by security agencies. Therefore, the actions of the Inspector General of Police is not only in contempt of courts but a ploy to bring harm to the person of Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
