Mother to spend 3 years in jail for putting a gun in her son’s backpack

A court in Houston has asked a woman to serve at least 3 years in jail for putting her boyfriend’s gun in her son’s bag to get the boy into trouble at school.

A judge yesterday sentenced Heather Hodges, who pleaded guilty to unlawful carrying of a weapon on restricted premises.  Investigations say Hodges believed the 13-year old boy had mistreated her two younger children.

An anonymous phone call later linked to Hodges, led to the gun being found in the boy’s backpack at Magnolia Junior High School in Magnolia.

She is being held pending a transfer to a Texas prison
