A woman who refused blood transfusion because she is a memeber of the Jehovah Witness sect dies

Adeline Keh, 40, suffered a fatal infection after giving birth by Caesarean Section to her son at the Homerton Hospital in East London.  She was said to have refused blood transfusion saying it was against her religion.  She is a member of the Jehovah Witnesses sect.

Investigation into the deal of Mrs. Keh found her decision to refuse blood may have compromised final medical intervention.

Other causes of her death listed include, acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis and an infection of the Caesarean wound.

The Jehovah Witnesses doctrine does not allow for the transfusion of blood.  They believe blood represent life and that God is the only giver of life.

This belief has led to so many deaths in the past including those of children.  Yet the religious movement insists on this rule.
