By 2050, nobody will be having sex to make babies

The man behind the contraceptive pill that so many of us rely on today has said that by 2050, we'll all be enjoying sex for sex's sake, and having babies through IVF.

Professor Carl Djerassi told the The Sunday Telegraph said that he believes the Pill will also become obsolete because in the future men and women will freeze their eggs and sperm at a young age before choosing to be being sterilised.

Prof Djerassi believes this was result in a "manana generation" who will simply get on with their carefree lives, safe in the knowledge that they will have kids at some point. He even believes that future children will be healthier because of eggs and sperm being frozen when they're younger.

"The vast majority of women who will choose IVF in the future will be fertile women who have frozen their eggs and delayed pregnancy," he said.

"Women in their 20s will first choose this approach as insurance, providing them with freedom in the light of professional decisions, or the absence of the right partner, or the inexorable ticking of the biological clock."
