Duchess of Alba with a fortune of over 3 billion pounds left nothing to husband no. 3 in her will (See photo album)

Popularly called Cayetana, The Duchess of Alba left behind a fortune of more than 2.2 billion pounds. She also left behind palaces, castles, 50,000 pieces fine works of art and 18,000 rare books.

The billionaire who left behind six children and eight grand children will see each of the children inheriting a palace each and  thousands of acres of land in Spain.

The 88-year-old raised eyebrows and caused family friction in 2011 when she married Alfonzo Diez, who was 25 years her junior.

At her death, Alfonso Diez who happens to be her third husband will not be benefiting from her fortune.  He signed a document renouncing himself from her wealth prior to their marriage in October 2011.

Duchess Alba is said to be a direct royal descent from King James II of England.  She was a relative of Winston Churchill and had shared toys as a child with Queen Elizabeth.

Cayetana, was rushed to the hospital on Sunday for Pneumonia infection, she showed slight sign of recovery but suddenly died yesterday.
