Will ousted Burkina Faso president seek asyum in Morrocco?

Moroccan state media says former Burkina Faso President Blaise Compaore has arrived in Casablanca from Ivory Coast, where he initially sought refuge after demonstrations brought down his government last month.

The report said Compaore, who held power for 27 years, arrived in Morocco last night with five other people.  Compaore has not yet settled on a long-term plan, the report said he would be in the country for a "fixed" term. No other details were given.

Morocco's foreign affairs ministry expressed support for Burkina Faso's transition process.

Longtime diplomat Michel Kafando was sworn in as interim president on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Lt. Col. Isaac Yacouba Zida, who briefly seized control after Compaore resigned, was named interim prime minister.  Elections are expected next year.
