The presiding officer of an Upper Area Court, sitting in Zuba Abuja, Malam Aminu Sa'ad has sentenced Shamsudeen Usman 28 years, to seven months imprisonment for stealing a ram.
Shamsudeen who was charged with the offence of criminal trespass and theft was however given the options of N5000 for the offence of criminal trespass and N10,000 for theft. He was however unable to pay the above amounts and was therefore taken to prison.
According to the report filed at Dutse-Alhaji Police Station, Usman unlawfully entered the premises of the complainant, Mr Sebastine Sossou, and stole a ram. Sossou, a Pastor, had the ram given to him by one of his church members in Kubwa.The convict, however, took the ram to livestock market at Dei-Dei with the intention of selling it, but was arrested by the police.
Usman pleaded guilty to the charges.
