Governor Adams Oshiohmole has ordered the suspension of the Managing Director of the Benin Central Hospital Edo State, Mr. Kayode Iyasere . And the demotion and compulsory retirement of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Mr, Ofure Eboreme for non implementation of government policies.
It was gathered that last week, casual workers of the hospital protested the non payment of six months salary being owned them by the hospital.
The Commissioner for Labour and Establishment, Comrade Didi Adodo, said the governor saw the protest as a great embarrassments to his government because prior to now, he had given directive six months ago that employment of all casual workers should be regularised. And that the management of the hospital including the Permanent Secretary were supposed to implement this policy but failed to do so. Also that each casual worker was being paid N10,000 while the minimum wage in the state is N18,000
