Mr. Jeffery Azuka Okafor, 23 years, who is being accused of the murder of a UK based child actor Carl Asiedu, 19 years, is being arranged to be extradited to the UK to face trial.
Okafor is accused of stabbing Asiedu to death on August 1, 2009 outside a UK nightclub. He later fled from the UK, but was caught on CCTV cameras boarding a flight to Nigeria.
An appeal for his arrest was put across by the UK police to their Nigeria counterparts. Okafor was finally arrested in Asaba, Delta State on 23 September 2014, after five years of being on the run.
The IG of Police, Suleiman Abba in commending the Police Intelligence Operatives for the arrest of the wanted murder suspect, also assured the international police that Nigeria will be made very uncomfortable for criminals such as Okafor who after committing crime will decide to escape to Nigeria. Such criminals he said will be arrested and send back to wherever they committed such crime to face justice.
He also stated that all the required procedure for the handover of the fugitive to the UK authorities had been concluded.
