Pope Francis has sacked the head of the Swiss Guard task with protecting him

Pope Francis has dismissed the commander of the Swiss Guard, Daniel Rudolf Anrig.  This was quietly announced by the Vatican yesterday saying, ''the Holy Father has ordered that Colonel Daniel Rudolf Anrig end his term 31 January at the conclusion of the extension of his mandate.''

Though the Vatican did not give any reason for this action, speculations have it that the Holy Father  disapprove of the rigid style of leadership Anrig had over the young men tasked to protect him.

The source said the vision of both Daniel and Pope Francis are totally different.  The Pope want  the inside of the Vatican to be humane, brotherly and paternally.  And there is the vision of the Colonel who despite is the commander of the smallest army in the world but still an army with extreme rigid rules.

The Pope was also upset with the Colonel's excessively strict army discipline.  The Pope has tried to have a very relaxed relationship with his workers.  He recently broke an ancient protocol against physical contact by shaking hands with Swiss Guards.
