Ghana to stop buying Nigeria crude oil - Preseident John Mahama

The Ghanaian government has made plans to reduce drastically the quantity of gas being purchase from Nigeria, as soon as the Atuabo gas processing plant in Ghana is completed and it starts producing gas in November.

These facts were made by the country's president, Mr. John Mahama while answering questions on Ghana's economy at the Global African Investment Summit held in London.

He said there was great excitement when the gas pipeline was built to supply gas to Ghana and other three countries.  But that so far, the volume being pumped has been very disappointing.

He said the Atuabo gas plant will produce an estimated 240,000 tonnes of LPG that Ghana requires domestically in a year.
