New York first Ebola case Dr. Craig Spencer's treatment cost $20million

Senator Charles Schumer have asked President Barack Obama to pick up the $20million bill used in the treatment of Dr. Craig Spencer by the Bellevue Hospital.

Last week Dr. Spencer retuned home having been given clean health bill from the Ebola virus.  But it was learnt that the treatment wasn't  free and the total bill amounted to approximately $20million.

According to Senator Schumer, 100 health workers were involved in Dr. Spencer's treatment.  Also a 24-hour-a-day operation with 500 staffs was put in place to monitor more than 300 people who arrive daily from West Africa Ebola hot spots.

Although the New York City will be receiving $14.6million out of the $1.6billion President Obama have requested for Ebola funding, it was learnt that the $14.6million doesn't  cover actual Ebola treatments and its future preventions.

Dr. Craig Spencer contacted the Ebola virus while he was rendering medical services at an Ebola centre in Sierra Leone under the Doctors without Borders scheme.

He had returned back to New York, spent several days before he became symptomatic.  He caused panic all over the United States when it was discovered that he visited several public places after his return from Sierra Leone.
