Russian super model who committed suicide in New York joined cult shortly before her death

Stunning Russian super model Ruslana Korshunova, 20, took everyone by surprise when she leaped to her death from the ninth floor of a new York office block in 2008.  But it just emerged now that she joined a cult shortly before her death.

Her death prompted New York Daily News journalist, Peter Pomerantsev to investigate the cult.  Peter who joined the cult to experience it first hand finds out among other things that the cult runs courses which cost more than $300 a day.  He also stated that the cult dehumanizes its members where by meetings are typified by shouting, confusion and what he described as emotional domination.  He said as a member he witnessed first hand how ''coaches'' humiliates members and blame them for the wrongs in their lives.

She was said to have been driven to the cult after her modelling career took a hard knock and also experienced several broken relationships at the time.

Ruslana was born in Kazakhstan to Russian mother and a father in the Red Army.  She was picked up by a modelling scout who launched her into the world of modelling.

She was said to have been particularly heartbroken after a rich tycoon who promised to marry her jilted her.

Miss Korshunova had a  blazing career.  And had graced covers of the British vogue, worked with Ima agency, the agency who also handled contracts for Kate Moss and Heidi Klum in the past.
