Mr. Isiaka Akanbi, 62-years, popularly known as Alfa, is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos for the death one Raliatu Kareem.
According to Punch, both Isiaka Akanbi and the deceased have known each other for more than 20 years.
It was learnt the deceased, Raliatu, had left her home immediately after the monthly state environmental sanitation cleaning exercise on October 25, to go visit her niece who had put to birth. After staying with the new mother up to 6pm same day, she decided to visit Alfa.
The woman's family had to raise an alarm when the deceased did not return home after two days she left the house. They decided to ask Alfa if he knows her where about, knowing they have been friends for years. But Isiaka denied knowing her where about.
However suspicion arose when Isiaka was noticed packing his personal belonging to flee his house. The matter was promptly reported at the Tolu Police station and Isiaka was arrested.
During interrogation, he agreed that Raliatu had visited him but that she suddenly collapsed and became unconscious. That he quickly rushed her to a nearby hospital but she was pronounced dead. He further said, he then took and abandoned her corpse at the Lagos Marine bridge. And to erase every trace of her presence in his house, he buried all personal belongings of hers.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation.
